The KitchenAid Platinum Collection features a two coat premium metallic finish in Candy Apple, Raspberry Ice, Medallion Silver, Black Storm, and Electric Blue on both the Stand Mixer and Blender, plus Sugar Pearl Silver, Café Latte and Antique Copper finishes on the Stand Mixer. The Platinum Collection Stand Mixer also features a clear glass bowl instead of the traditional stainless steel bowl, and a new Flex Edge Beater.

“This entirely new finish was first debuted as a limited edition 90th Anniversary stand mixer.  The finish and colour elicited such a positive response that a new collection was designed with the same features in new colours and a rich, metallic finish that is now not limited,” said Alana Fletcher, Communication and Sponsorship Manager for KitchenAid’s Australia and New Zealand distributor, Peter McInnes Pty Ltd.

“Modern design is so open, the kitchen is no longer cut off from the living area,” says Fletcher. “People love to display beautiful things in their kitchens that reflect their personality. An iconic KitchenAid Stand Mixer on the counter in a bold, personal colour is one way people do that. We’re excited this new finish gives people more ways to express their own style while creating great food for themselves and loved ones,” she said.

“The premium metallic finish evokes the look and feel of a beautiful high-end sports car. The colours are inspired by foods like sugar pearls used to decorate elegant biscuits and cakes, summer berries and shiny toffee apples.”

THE STAR TO SHINE ON SYDNEY

Sydney’s new one of a kind leisure and entertainment venue, The Star, premiered last night , with the first of a series of launch events.
The $870 million transformation of Star City includes the re-orientation of the building to embrace Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. Larry Mullin, CEO of Echo Entertainment Group, which owns and operates The Star, says the redevelopment represents one of the biggest tourism and entertainment investments in Australia today.
“By forging partnerships with leading chefs, retailers, designers and entertainers, in The Star we’re creating the sort of integrated entertainment destination that will drive both domestic and international tourism.”
“This $870 million investment will position us as a powerful force in entertainment and gaming. We’re also proud that we have been able to create 1500 construction jobs and nearly 1000 ongoing positions in one of the biggest hospitality recruitment drives this city has seen in many years,” Mr Mullin said.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris, said the investment in The Star is a vote of confidence in the Harbour City, its status as Australia’s global city and its attraction to interstate and international visitors.
“I congratulate the operators of The Star, a total entertainment complex which will help propel Sydney as the premiere tourist destination not just in Australia, but in the entire Asia/Pacific area.”
“The redevelopment is truly magnificent and it has transformed the venue into something of which NSW can truly be proud,” Mr Souris said.
Created by internationally acclaimed events producer David Grant, the ceremonial opening will feature a dazzling light and visual arts display, centered on The Star’s new glass facade harbourside entrance.

Around 250 guests were picked up by motor yachts from The Rocks and brought to Pyrmont Bay where they walked the red carpet to a viewing platform. The new harbourside frontage is made up of 147 flags of clear glass which form a giant screen on which a spectacular visual display unfolded.

From Cast-off to Couture

Top Australian fashion designers donate their bespoke creations for a good cause.

In the bumper packed September issue, marie claire pairs the designers behind some of Australia’s leading brands with the much loved op-shops of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Using everything from wetsuits to curtains, the talented line-up made six gorgeous, one-off creations, which are being auctioned through marie claire to raise money for the Australian charity.

The result is nothing short of stunning, with the likes of Camilla & Marc, Sass & Bide, Therese Rawsthorne, Easton Pearson, Carl Kapp and Romance was Born creating one-off couture masterpieces from the treasures trove that is Vinnies.

For designer Therese Rawsthorne, the process of finding the trench coat and wetsuit that would become her one-of-a-kind dress brought back “the magic that comes with design. It was a totally spontaneous exercise. There was no pattern, it was entirely free hand, but the garments seemed to want to come together naturally. It was quite freeing in that sense.”

Every week more than 50,000 kilograms of donated clothing and bric-a-brac arrive at Sydney Vinnies stores. The proceeds raised from the designer auction will support the St Vincent de Paul Society and help Australians in need.

Julie McDonald, Community & Corporate Relations Manager, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW says “Vinnies is delighted to be working with marie claire and some of Australia’s top designers to turn our pre-loved Vinnies items into couture pieces. Vinnies has always admired marie claire’s strong sense of social justice which ties in perfectly with what we try to achieve in our Vinni’s shops where a good deal equals a good deed.
Vinnies would like to thank the wonderful team at marie claire, all the designers for their tremendous support and of course all our generous donors who donate their good quality items to help give someone a second chance at life.”
The September issue of marie claire goes on sale August 3.
