ZARA Woman – April Lookbook

BROUGHT TO YOU BY Fashion|One

Zara Woman shows off their new April lookbook with a breezy collection that is effortlessly chic. White is everywhere; in sheer blouses, shorts, and tanks, as well as jackets, dresses, and denim. This color adds an instant brightness to other hues of subdued coral or watercolor blue. The pieces are clean and well-constructed, emphasizing an easy-going style. The current lookbook plays on the combination of structured and disheveled. This is apparent in tailored jackets mixed with bleach-dipped denim; or in the details of crocheted shoulders and swaying fringe hems. Accessories are minimal with the exception of a boldly collared necklace. The overall effect is simplistic and stylish, a typical Zara standard. Shop the new collection online or at a Zara store near you.

PRADA Spring 2012 Ad Campaign

BROUGHT TO YOU BY Fashion|One

Prada is going retro in their new spring 2012 print ad campaign. The popular luxury brand showcases the fresh faces of Natasha Poly, Guinevere van Seenus, Elise Crombez, Meghan Collison, Katryn Kruger, and Ymre Stiekema. Steven Meisel photographed the lovely ladies as they posed in full sun with vintage cars at a 50’s style gas station. The new collection features a multitude of floral motifs, graphic flame designs, and sweet pastels. Bright pops of primary hues excite the looks and give a modern, yet edgy feel. The ladies wouldn’t be complete without a plethora of accessories. Prada’s extensive line of handbags makes a guest appearance in the brand’s classic shapes; but the real stars of campaign are the clusters of gemstones in the form of bracelets, necklaces, belts, brooches, and earrings. You can even make your own version of Prada’s teardrop flower earrings here.

From Cast-off to Couture

Top Australian fashion designers donate their bespoke creations for a good cause.

In the bumper packed September issue, marie claire pairs the designers behind some of Australia’s leading brands with the much loved op-shops of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Using everything from wetsuits to curtains, the talented line-up made six gorgeous, one-off creations, which are being auctioned through marie claire to raise money for the Australian charity.

The result is nothing short of stunning, with the likes of Camilla & Marc, Sass & Bide, Therese Rawsthorne, Easton Pearson, Carl Kapp and Romance was Born creating one-off couture masterpieces from the treasures trove that is Vinnies.

For designer Therese Rawsthorne, the process of finding the trench coat and wetsuit that would become her one-of-a-kind dress brought back “the magic that comes with design. It was a totally spontaneous exercise. There was no pattern, it was entirely free hand, but the garments seemed to want to come together naturally. It was quite freeing in that sense.”

Every week more than 50,000 kilograms of donated clothing and bric-a-brac arrive at Sydney Vinnies stores. The proceeds raised from the designer auction will support the St Vincent de Paul Society and help Australians in need.

Julie McDonald, Community & Corporate Relations Manager, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW says “Vinnies is delighted to be working with marie claire and some of Australia’s top designers to turn our pre-loved Vinnies items into couture pieces. Vinnies has always admired marie claire’s strong sense of social justice which ties in perfectly with what we try to achieve in our Vinni’s shops where a good deal equals a good deed.
Vinnies would like to thank the wonderful team at marie claire, all the designers for their tremendous support and of course all our generous donors who donate their good quality items to help give someone a second chance at life.”
The September issue of marie claire goes on sale August 3.
